This campaign covers all the villages, towns and cities of India to make them clean. This initiative is one of the most significant steps taken for a clean, green and healthy India.

In the presence of the Indian government, Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan was launched on 2nd October 2014 to honour Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India. The sole aim of this mission is to eradicate open defecation (toilet in the open) and improve solid waste management. This initiative educated citizens about the proper management of household waste. It provided sanitation and hygiene facilities to schools, hospitals and public places. To prevent open defecation, it offered economic aid to make latrines and toilets in villages and urban areas. This scheme also focuses on the cleaning of rivers.
