Dowry is a social evil that has caused much suffering to many people in India, and it is essential that we take steps to eradicate it from our society. First, let’s explore the root of the problem. Dowry is a traditional practice in which the bride’s family gives a large sum of money and other gifts to the groom’s family.
This practice has created an expectation of wealth for the groom’s family, and this has led to a system in which families demand a certain amount of dowry for their sons’ marriages.
The issue of dowry is a complex one, and it cannot be solved overnight. There are several measures that can be taken to address the issue.
First, we must create awareness and educate the public on the dangers of dowry and its effects on society. We must spread the message that dowry is unacceptable and should not be accepted under any circumstances.
Second, the government must take strict action to punish those who are involved in the practice of dowry. The government should also increase the penalties for dowry-related offences and make sure that they are enforced.
